TBpeople Philippines participates in the FY 2024 TB Roadmap Stakeholders’ Consultation

TBpeople Philippines recently participated in the Philippines FY 2024 TB Roadmap Stakeholders’ Consultation hosted by USAID on April 18th, 2024. The event, held at the Bayleaf Hotel in Intramuros, Manila, brought together key stakeholders in the fight against tuberculosis (TB).

TBpeople Philippines team was well-represented by Mr. Niño Magpusao, Vice President and Communications Head, and Ms. Danica Duran, Executive Secretary. They joined representatives from other organizations including PASTB (the Philippine Alliance to Stop TB, and URC (Union Research Co,. LLC), MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières), and PIMELLA

The event focused on an important aspect of TB control in the Philippines: ensuring the FY 2024 TB Roadmap aligns with the USAID Global TB Strategy and the Global Accelerator to End TB. Discussions centered on how various stakeholders, including Key Affected Populations (KAP), (CSOs) (CBOs), the NTP, USAID, and other partners can work together to develop and implement this roadmap.

Dr. Aquino, Valenzuela City Health Officer (CHO), commended TBpeople Philippines as a valuable partner in their advocacy efforts. He specifically recognized them as the only TB survivor group the CHO collaborates with, highlighting the unique contribution and impact of TBpeople Philippines.

Through their participation, TBpeople Philippines emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving the shared goal of ending TB in the Philippines. And, actively engaged in discussions, bringing the voice of TB patients to the forefront and advocating for strategies that ensure accessible, patient-centered TB care.

The FY 2024 TB Roadmap Stakeholders’ Consultation represents a significant step forward in the fight against TB in the Philippines. TBpeople Philippines remains committed to working alongside other stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of this roadmap and ultimately, a TB-free future for the country.
