On March 18, 2024, marked a momentous milestone in the fight against tuberculosis (TB) as the TBpeople Philippines Team, in commemoration of World TB Day 2024, orchestrated a groundbreaking TB Discipleship Orientation and TB Lecture at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex. In partnership with Mr. Ruffy Biazon, Mayor of Muntinlupa City, Dr. Leonor Tubon, TB Medical Coordinator from the City Health Office in Muntinlupa, Ms. Sharon Dagundon, Health Promotion Unit Head, TB Team and Dr. Juancho Bunyi, OIC – City Health Office. the event aimed to educate and empower the community to fight the spread of tuberculosis effectively.

The initiative garnered enormous support from various groups, including the City Government of Muntinlupa, City Health Office-Muntinlupa, Department of Health, Sangguniang Kabataan of Muntinlupa, Hepo Muntinlupa, Hepo Victoria HC, Poblacion Health Center, Muntinlupa City Persons with Disability Affairs Office, Ayala Alabang HC Hero, Sucat HC, and Osca Muntinlupa. Such collaboration emphasizes the collective commitment to address the challenges posed by TB within the region.

The TBpeople Philippines Team delivered an informative lecture, ensuring that the information disseminated was comprehensive and easily comprehensible to the participants. The active participation of the Muntinlupeño community was heartening, reflecting their eagerness to engage and take proactive measures against TB.

One notable highlight of the event was the presence and unwavering support of Mr. Jonas Abadila, the SK Chairman of Brgy. Buli, Muntinlupa City. His support to TBpeople Philippines’ initiatives and the endeavors of the TBpeople Philippines and City Health Office of Muntinlupa was both encouraging and inspiring. Mr. Abadila’s impassioned speech resonated with the community, further showing support for the organization’s advocacy.

The event fostered a sense of unity and solidarity in the fight against TB. By empowering individuals with the information and resources needed to fight the disease effectively, the event laid the groundwork for a healthier and more resilient community.
