TBpeople Philippines Participated in Active Case Finding in Barangay Kias, Baguio City

TBPeople Philippines participated in an active case-finding event in Barangay Kias, Baguio City, aimed at educating the community about tuberculosis (TB) and promoting effective prevention and treatment strategies. The event served as an opportunity for TBPeople Philippines to share their comprehensive plans to combat TB, which include public education campaigns and initiatives designed to increase awareness and reduce the stigma associated with the disease. One of the key focuses of their participation was to promote the “Fast Track the Cure” initiative, which seeks to accelerate diagnosis and treatment timelines, ensuring that individuals receive the care they need promptly. The organization also highlighted the “One Impact App,” a mobile application designed to empower TB patients by providing them with information, support, and resources to manage their health effectively.

In addition to TBPeople Philippines, the event featured participation from several other organizations, each contributing to the community’s health and well-being in various ways. The Social Security System (SSS) was present to provide information about benefits and services available to the community, while the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) and Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP) offered insights into sexual health and family planning resources. The Department of Health (DOH) contributed by administering free pneumococcal vaccines for seniors and anti-flu vaccines for children aged 14 and below, demonstrating a commitment to protecting vulnerable populations from preventable diseases. The Philippine Red Cross conducted a bloodletting activity, encouraging community members to donate blood and support the nation’s blood supply needs.

The event in Barangay Kias was not only a platform for healthcare promotion but also a testament to the power of collaborative efforts in addressing public health challenges. TBPeople Philippines and the other participating organizations showcased a holistic approach to community health, emphasizing the importance of accessible healthcare services and community involvement. By engaging directly with residents and providing valuable resources, these organizations are working to build healthier communities and improve the quality of life for all. The active case-finding event underscores the importance of ongoing public health initiatives and highlights the collective responsibility to fight diseases like tuberculosis, ensuring a healthier future for everyone.
