Roche with their COBAS 5800

Had an amazing and productive time with our Roche partners, training on the Cobas® modular analyzer series! Discovering the multi disease testing capacity of the Cobas 5800 and its Rifampicin and Isoniazid resistance capability which makes diagnosing faster. This continued learning strengthens our confidence as TB survivors, empowering us to keep fighting against TB.

TBPeople Philippines had the opportunity to visit one of the facilities using the Roche Cobas 5800, and it became clear on the number of patients testing TB positive, including those with Rifampicin and Isoniazid resistance, is a stark reality. These numbers don’t lie, and it’s all thanks to this highly effective diagnostic tool. The Cobas 5800 is perfect for high-volume testing, providing an accurate reflection of the true burden of the disease. I hope that as TB cases rise, efforts will also be made to address the ongoing stockouts of essential medicines. This visit and training have further fueled our determination to keep fighting the challenges posed by tuberculosis, especially in securing the necessary funding for treatment.
